Piera Dolza, history to be told

According to an old legend that is told in the area, in the hamlet of Ciser di Fregona, at the foot of Monte Pizzoc around 1600, a resourceful farmer found a way to ripen the grapes, which, for bad weather conditions did not ripen in the vineyard, by hanging them from the beams of his barn.

During the winter the grapes dried and became sweet and our farmer had to crush them the following spring with the press, therefore obtaining must which he put into small kegs to ferment.

Since then Torchiato, the "celebration wine" has been produced by all the farming families of the Municipality of Fregona, who have handed down the traditional techniques and equipment needed to obtain this really sweet raisin wine from generation to generation. It is proudly presented to be tasted at the exhibition which is held in the last week of April each year.
