Piera Dolza, history to be told

Piera Dolza, history to be told

The name the winery has chosen for its Torchiato di Fregona is Piera Dolza, a name that strongly bonds this wine to its territory. In fact the sandstone of which the splendid caves of Caglieron in Fregona are made is called Piera Dolza.

The name of the stone derives from the fact that it is a soft stone, easy to work and in the distant past, was used by the town's stonecutters to make ornaments for the churches and stately homes of the nearby Vittorio Veneto in the nineteenth century. The historical wine press was also of Piera dolza that has always represented this group of producers and still exists in a hamlet of Fregona.
